ABE Community Land Trust update February 2020

ABE CLT Housing allocation policy

The CLT is developing its own housing allocation policy which will give priority to people with connection to the two parishes, then adjoining Arun parishes. This is being discussed with Arun DC and the idea of including in ADC’s application form a prompt for people to be able to apply to CLT housing has been proposed to ADC. Possible Housing Schemes

Meetings continue to be held with Housing Associations to work up possible joint working arrangements for several potential sites. The housing needs survey results are on the ABE CLT website and have been presented to the Parish Councils. These indicate a need for over 40 units, mainly 1, 2 & 3 bedroom homes with a few ground floor, wheelchair accessible units. The aim of the CLT is to be able to offer these at “social rents”, below market level, perhaps with some Shared Ownership housing.

Clerical support

The CLT has been looking for a volunteer to take minutes and has now agreed to appoint someone for a few hours per month to do this and provide some clerical support. Contact infoabeclt@gmail.com if you are interested in being considered.

Liaison with other bodies

The CLT was formed with support from Aldingbourne and Barnham and Eastergate Parish Councils (PCs) and maintaining a good working relationship is important in delivering housing that complies with their two Neighbourhood Plans. Both PCs have appointed observers to the Board. A meeting with new MP Andrew Griffiths has been arranged for April, jointly with the two Parish Councils.

The CLT Board meets every other month and welcomes new Board members, particularly from the Eastergate or Barnham area. Please get in touch if you would like more information.
